About Sousou
A digital home for rotating savings circles.
Sousou is inspired by long‑standing savings traditions across Africa and the diaspora – known by many names: sousou, ajo, stokvel, tontine and more. We honour the culture of trust and mutual support, while giving groups clearer records, reminders and tools that fit modern life.
History & philosophy
For generations, communities have pooled money in turns to handle school fees, rent, business capital and emergencies. These circles don't start from apps – they start from stories, family and neighbours.
Sousou does not try to replace that human layer. Our philosophy is simple: keep the trust, remove the confusion. We give organisers and members the same view of dates, amounts and turns so disagreements are easier to avoid.
Purpose, vision & mission
- Purpose: Help people save together safely, wherever they are.
- Vision: A world where community finance is respected, visible and connected to the wider financial system – without losing its soul.
- Mission: Build tools that make it easier to start, run and grow savings circles, while protecting members through good records, transparency and support.
Community first
Circles belong to the people who create them. Sousou exists to support, not to control.
Trust & clarity
Clear schedules, records and roles reduce confusion and protect relationships.
Safety by design
We keep sensitive actions in secure flows, use strong rules on the backend, and surface issues early through support.
